Description

Honda Civic Type R FN2 - Reluctant Sale / Happy Wife, Happy Life I bought this FN2 in July fully intending to keep it. Unfortunately, while I absolutely love it, my wife absolutely does not. Apparently, it's "too noisy, too firm and uncomfortable." My son is firmly on my side, but he doesn't get the deciding vote. So, in the interests of a peaceful household, the Type R has to go. I've owned around six Type Rs over the years, so I knew exactly what I was looking for when I bought this one. It came from a genuine Honda enthusiast in Wales who was downsizing his collection to concentrate on maintaining his EP3 and DC5. For a 17-year-old FN2, it is exceptionally tidy. The bodywork presents really well, the interior is clean and well kept, and mechanically it feels exactly how a good Type R should. The K20 it pulls strongly, revs beautifully and, once VTEC engages as it should. The gearbox is smooth no crunching and the whole car feels tight unlike some of the tired examples and modified ones. The car also comes with two keys and a folder full of invoices, receipts and history, which was reassuring when I purchased it. Full disclosure: On the latest MOT the rear beam has been inspected and has no structural issues. There is some surface rust that would benefit from treatment. As per the advisory the front drop links have been replaced, and the front subframe creak has been addressed using Tegiwa collars. There are a few minor marks on the bodywork, as you would expect from a 17-year-old car, but nothing that detracts from its overall condition. Positives Two keys Apple CarPlay and Android Auto head unit fitted No water-ingress issues Seats are in good condition Brakes and tyres are all good No roof-rust Smooth gearbox VTEC engages as it should Folder of invoices, receipts and history Front subframe creak addressed with Tegiwa collars Front drop links replaced Excellent documented service history with 15 recorded services. Honda main dealer serviced from 2011 through to 2023, followed by independent servicing in 2024, 2025 and most recently August 2026 at 116,370 miles. I haven't owned it long, and there's nothing sinister behind the quick sale. I genuinely intended on keeping it and would happily continue doing so. Unfortunately, I've lost the domestic vote 2-1 if you count the person whose opinion actually matters. Happy wife, happy life Open to sensible offers really want it to go to a good home.
