For sale is my 2009 Mazda RX-8 R3, finished in white with approximately 89,000 miles. The car has just undergone a full engine rebuild and street port, carried out by Shadow Rotary Ireland, and comes with a 2-year warranty on the rebuild. The rebuild included replacement rotor housings. Following the rebuild, the car was carefully nursed through its initial 1,000-mile running-in period and has now had its first post-rebuild service. I'm continuing to run the engine in progressively, keeping the revs below a set limit and increasing this every 100 miles. It is currently being run to a maximum of approximately 5,000 rpm. Other work carried out: New clutch kit New engine mounts New coolant expansion tank Suspension work Replacement front crossmember New Ryan Rotary coils and leads The car is in very good condition for its age, with only minimal stone chips to the bodywork. There is a small tear to the driver's seat bolster and some kerb rash on the alloy wheels, which I've taken into consideration with the asking price. There is also a small suspension knock from the driver's side front, which I believe is likely to be a drop link or worn bush. It's only really noticeable over particularly uneven or bumpy roads, but I'd rather mention it so there are no surprises for a prospective buyer. Compression is good, with no issues starting either hot or cold. Following the rebuild, compression readings were in the high 6s and had increased into the mid 7s after the initial 1,000-mile running-in period as the new seals began to bed in. The car comes with two sets of keys, photographs documenting the engine rebuild, including photographs of the original rotor housings that were replaced. Prior to the rebuild, the car pulled strongly through the entire rev range and wasn't rebuilt as the result of an engine failure. I chose to have the rebuild carried out for my own peace of mind. The car is currently SORN and kept in dry storage. Since having the work carried out, I've purchased another car and unfortunately no longer have the time to give the Mazda the attention it deserves. I'd describe it as a 99% completed enthusiast/project car rather than something requiring major work. The expensive and important work has already been done, particularly the engine rebuild. Awaiting a replacement V5C, car won't be sold without this but can be viewed anytime beforehand. Not in any rush to sell.
