Description
We've had this car in the family for more than 10 years and we've had it ourselves for the last 2 years. It's always been well serviced and driven carefully. Bodywork, interior and mechanicals are in good condition apart from it needs a new Wet Belt. The quote from Ford is £1900 but a local garage would do it for around £1200. We've bought a newer car with less miles and a few years younger so we're not fixing this one. It would suit someone who can do the wet belt themselves. A Ford Parts Kit is about
£400 and it would take about 10 hours to do and then you'd have a car worth £2250 (auto trader valuation). I've put two videos in so you can see how it drives and the engine runs. You can also see the diagnostic report from the Ford Garage that says the wet belt is delaminated. They reset the oil warning message and told us to drive it home. It drove for about 5 miles and then the message came back. They advised that it's better not to drive it until the belt is changed, but that it might be ok for a few more short journeys.
