Description
2012 Volkswagen Scirocco GT 2.0 TSI DSG - 107,000 miles - Running & Driving Project
Selling my Scirocco after around 2 years of ownership. I'm the 6th owner.
It's a great looking, well specced car which is still in regular use, but it has a number of known mechanical and cosmetic issues. I'd rather list everything I know about upfront than waste anyone's time or have somebody travel expecting a perfect example.
Specification/Modifications:
GT specification with DSG gearbox, heated leather seats, Ramair induction kit, aftermarket exhaust system, tinted rear windows, spoiler lip extension, black VW badges, de-wipered rear, DSG paddle extensions, upgraded accelerator/brake pedals and headlight eyelashes. Custom T90 RCO gel registration plate currently fitted. MOT valid until April 2027.
The car always starts first time, runs and drives and remains in regular use. It still pulls well and is genuinely enjoyable to drive but should be viewed as a running project which will require mechanical attention and further diagnosis.
Mechanical issues I'm aware of:
Intermittent dashboard warning lights, including the engine-management light
Red "oil pressure - engine off" warning approximately 3-4 times per drive
High oil consumption, low oil light appears around 4 days after filling with oil
Occasional light smoke from the exhaust
Occasional mechanical noise from the engine
BMX/freewheel-type noise when coming off the accelerator
Exhaust note occasionally sounds boggy up steep hills
EPC warning light appears under harder acceleration above approximately 4,000rpm
Wheel rubbing noise from the left side
Tyres getting low on tread
One DSG paddle has a slight wobble, fully functional
Last recorded service was in 2020
Cosmetic issues:
The bodywork is not pristine, and this is reflected in the price. There is significant/flaking paint in several areas, a dent in the roof, scuffs to the wheels, adhesive/residue on the rear fender, a crack in the rear-right light and the front-left headlight lens is cloudy, rear bumper is a slightly different shade of red up close so may have been repainted previous to my ownership.
Vehicle comes with paperwork from previous owners, V5C logbook, and a spare key. Sensible offers considered.
This would suit somebody familiar with VWs/TSIs, somebody who can carry out their own repairs, or someone looking for a well specced Scirocco as a project.
Many thanks for reading my advert for this VW Scirocco GT.
