Description

1997 Volkswagen Golf GTI 2.0 (Mk3) Colour Concept - Black, 3-Door A rare opportunity to own a highly sought-after Mk3 Golf GTI Colour Concept in excellent structural condition. Only 1,000 of these were produced in each colour, making this 3-door black model a genuine collector's piece and a guaranteed head-turner. I have owned the car since 2014, covering just ~3,000 miles during my 12 year ownership. After initially using it as a daily driver, I safely dry stored the vehicle in 2015 while using a commuter car, dedicating my time to returning this GTI to its former glory. I am only reluctantly selling now due to a house move. Restoration & Maintenance The car has undergone extensive, high-quality restoration work since 2020 to ensure it is structurally sound and completely rust free in the usual Mk3 trouble spots: - Extensive structural restoration including replacement sills. - Comprehensive professional welding on the floor pan and chassis. - Fully undersealed to future-proof the underside. - All wheel arches are completely clean and clear. - Recent mechanical overhaul: Cambelt change, full service, new oil cooler, and replacement rotor arm plus all of the usual servicing over the years. Engine The car runs a dependable, bulletproof 2.0L 8v engine. Please note, the car left the factory as a 16v but was swapped to the highly reliable 8v block by a previous owner. This swap is fully declared and registered with the DVLA. It runs beautifully and offers excellent reliability. Condition This is a very clean, honest example of a Mk3 GTI. - Exterior: Presents very well for its age, with only a few minor cosmetic marks commensurate with a 1997 vehicle. - Interior: In very good overall condition. To be completely transparent, the roof liner is sagging (a common Mk3 quirk) and there is a small tear in the driver's seat. This is a structurally sorted, well loved modern classic ready for its next enthusiastic owner.
