Description

A genuinely impressive and exceptionally well-specified XJL Portfolio with huge presence, a superb interior and an unusually comprehensive history file. Finished in black with black perforated leather and wood veneer, it still feels every bit the luxury saloon it was designed to be. The long-wheelbase rear cabin is a real highlight, with enormous legroom, picnic tables, separate rear climate control, heated/cooled rear seats and rear sunblinds. Further specification includes Bowers & Wilkins premium audio, panoramic glass roof and 20-inch alloy wheels. It has just been serviced with full-synthetic engine oil and oil filter, air filter, cabin filter and fresh brake fluid. It also sits on four matching Michelin e.Primacy tyres, all with good tread. The history is a major strength. It comes with the original Jaguar book pack and brochures, Jaguar main-dealer service records, old MOT certificates and a substantial file of invoices showing many thousands spent on maintenance over the years. Previous work includes replacement of the inlet manifold, and the car has had just four owners. The interior has worn its mileage extremely well and the car drives beautifully. The V6 diesel and automatic gearbox suit the XJL perfectly, making it effortless, quiet and exceptionally comfortable on the road. It also benefits from a fresh MOT until August 2027. The test passed with advisories noting corrosion to the front and rear subframe/suspension. As you would expect from a 2012 car, there are some age-related cosmetic imperfections, including marks/scuffs to the bodywork, wheel kerbing, minor cracking to areas of the wood veneer, some bubbling to the finish on the boot lid and a crack in the rear screen. There are also a few minor interior trim imperfections. The adaptive cruise-control function is currently not operating, and a low coolant level warning is showing which is believed to be sensor-related. I have priced the car to reflect those points rather than carrying out cosmetic refurbishment and asking considerably more. Overall, this remains a very handsome, hugely specified and exceptionally well-documented XJL with recent servicing, excellent matching tyres, a beautifully preserved interior and a wonderfully smooth driving experience. A tremendous amount of car for the money, and an excellent opportunity to buy a properly specified, well-maintained XJL with provenance, character and an enormous amount of luxury for a fraction of its original cost.
