2006 Porsche Cayman S 3.4 with 6-speed manual gearbox. The car drives well and has recently had approximately £3,400 spent on an MOT, service and maintenance, with invoices available. I am selling the car at a significantly reduced price due to an intermittent startup smoke issue. After the car has been parked for a longer period, it can produce a noticeable cloud of smoke on startup which then clears. The car drives normally once started. As part of investigating this, the engine has had a borescope inspection. This showed only minimal/light cylinder scoring, which the inspecting garage considered insufficient to explain significant oil consumption. Some oil residue was also noted in cylinders 3 and 4. The exact cause of the startup smoke has not yet been established. The car also has some cosmetic damage to the rear bumper corners, including scratches, which is reflected in the asking price. The car is therefore being sold as a project / mechanical investigation opportunity at a substantially reduced price. I have the borescope photographs/report and the recent maintenance invoices, and these can be shown to genuinely interested buyers.
