The Volkswagen up! 1.0 Club 5-door manual is a very good small car, especially for city driving and first-time drivers. It's cheap to run, easy to park, economical (around 55–60 mpg depending on version and driving), and the 1.0-litre petrol engine is generally reliable. The Club trim also gives it a nicer feel and useful equipment. It isn't particularly fast, especially on motorways, but it's comfortable and surprisingly spacious for such a small car.
