Based on the popular 2.4 240X, this isn't an aftermarket mobility conversion. Toyota designed the Wellcab system as part of the vehicle, with the passenger-side middle seat electrically rotating, moving through the sliding door and lowering outside the car. For somebody with restricted mobility, an elderly passenger or anyone who finds stepping up into a conventional MPV difficult, it can make getting in and out considerably easier. Once returned inside, however, it simply functions as a normal passenger seat. Importantly, this remains a proper seven-seat Alphard, making it equally suitable for somebody who simply wants an exceptionally low-mileage and well-equipped family MPV. With only 44,980 km – approximately 27,950 miles – recorded at auction, it has covered remarkably little mileage for its age. ________________________________________ Toyota Wellcab System The passenger-side second-row seat electrically rotates and travels out through the power sliding door before lowering towards the ground. The system incorporates a folding armrest and footrest and is operated electrically. The Japanese auction documentation specifically records the second-row automatic side lift-up seat together with wheelchair securing equipment. Unlike many adapted vehicles, the Wellcab equipment doesn't dominate the car.
