Description

1972 Mercedes Benz 250CE pillarless coupe. This was always a rare model (it was twice the price of a Jaguar E type when new - see photo of Bill Wyman of the Rolling Stones with his in 1972). However, Mercedes Benz still make parts for their vintage cars due to car collectors in Germany ensuring they do. This a UK supplied RHD car. It is mechanically excellent having had the engine reconditioned 11 years and 30,000 miles ago with new cylinder liners etc restoring it's original performance which is quite exceptional for it's year. I have owned it for 18 years and am reluctantly selling it due to the purchase of another vintage Mercedes to add to my small collection. It has fully stamped service history in an original service book since the engine was reconditioned. It has been looked after by an excellent independent Mercedes specialist using MB original parts throughout my ownership. It is ULEZ, road tax and MOT exempt. It is cheap to insure with classic car insurance. It has a wonderful interior with head rests which are rare in most other 1972 Mercedes. It has a working electric sunroof. The pillarless coupe aspect is better on a hot day than a Mercedes SL with the roof down. I know because I have previously owned an SL! It has an excellent interior with dark brown MB Tex. The bodywork likewise is very good. The car is used every 2 weeks or so which ensures it is reliable. It is not a concourse car that is not used. It is kept under cover in central London and generally used in the vicinity where it is kept where there is no mud or salt on the roads. It was however driven to Wales and back over the summer without a hitch. An attention seeker wherever you go. This is a full size coupe with 4 seats and plenty of headroom in the back. Rear seat belts. It has a very large boot. It comes with an original owners manual. It is genuinely a joy to drive and my mechanic likewise points out how much more comfortable and how much better it handles and drives compared with a 1972 Pagoda.
