Description

Welcome to the sad sale of a much loved family car. This was my mother in law's car which we have owned since 2019 when it had done only 99,000 miles. In the subsequent 7 years we have done 72,000 miles and always had it serviced on time at the same garage. Every year we have taken this car to Italy for long stints and it is extremely economical on long distance motorist journeys. We have recently moved to Hastings which is very hilly and my wife now wants an automatic with Bluetooth so she can chat on the phone. But personally I think these early 2000s 3 series BMWs are the peak of automotive design, being extremely well built and designed and completely reliable without any of the annoying electronic gremlins of 21st century car design. As an example - this car doesn't beep at you if you happen not to have your seat belt on for a minute. It can comfortably fit 5 people plus luggage but doesn't feel like a big car. It has a luggage cover, dog guard - but we have never had a dog so it doesn't smell, nor have we ever smoked in this car. It does have a few marks and scrapes commensurate with a 23-year old car, so if you are looking for a concours example this is not it. Yes, there is a bit of side trim missing to the near side front door, and yes, the odd scrape and dent. But it has survived remarkably well and given us no trouble over the years. Recently flew through its annual MOT in late August and serviced at the same time, as usual. It has a CD player, 6 forward gears, leather seats, a quite new battery and quite recent tyres. Turbo redone about 5 years ago. This car will go on forever if someone continues to look after it as I have done, and will become quite sought after once people get tired of gadgety cars that cannot be fixed. Any viewing welcome, down in sunny Hastings.
