Description
OK, so you dont get many sellers telling you that their car is tatty. Well, it is tatty, dents, scuffs and some aluminium corrosion in the usual places, particularly on the lower tailgate. Rust patches in rear corners of the rear wheel arches. The original 16" Alloy wheels are quite scabby but it rides so much better than the aesthetically preferred 18" rims. It will need some TLC, but it is genuinely good enough for a project or for a run about. It wont win any concourse events and it definitely wont break any speed records but it is easy to drive and the electric leather seats are very comfortable. Honestly, I bought it for parts, BUT after looking underneath I realised it was much better than average. It leads me to believe that, even though there is no evident service history it must have been well looked after in its previous lives. The earlier models benefited from some quite unusual and bold colours for the time and this one sports the quite rare Willow Green paint, which is a bit tired, some lacquer coming off the bonnet as usual, nowhere near as bad as some, roof is OK though. The interior is surprisingly good and even has a set of original rubber mats. It does have some usual minor wear to the drivers seat bolster, pinned up headlining and some marks. It needed a few jobs for the MOT, replaced Tank cradle, front prop-shaft UJ, repaired tailgate button, new battery, front wipers, engine service, 2x tyres, replaced drivers door latch. Also repaired the auto oil cooler wheel arch deflector, injector leak off pipes, viscous fan. The steering knuckle ball joints have been replaced recently, as have the front to rear brake pipes. Air Suspension works and all air springs holding Air OK. Hevac climate control not showing any faults, heater matrix o rings not leaking. Fluid levels all OK and no oil leaks. 2x Key fobs and they both work. Sill ends in good condition as is the rear bumper. It also has a genuine A bar which is very rare. Despite its looks, it starts really well, even when its hot, it drives really well, doesnt wander about. It looks like it has had an ABS pump recently too. Obviously, it is 30 years old, it is a P38 and therefore it will want an enthusiast to give it some gentle encouragement and attention. But, for a car of this age, with this many miles it is a great project and as it has survived this long, it certainly deserves an enthusiastic and caring home.
