Description
Reluctantly selling my GT6 Mk 11 (Mk 2) due to not having the time to enjoy it.
I bought this car as a restoration project in 1993 from a friend leaving the UK. I have completed a full restoration on the car (details below) and the car has just been valued (30/8/2024) at 18000 with A1+ condition for Body, Chrome & Trim, Chassis & Underbody, Interior, Engine Bay, Transmission & Suspension, Electrical Equipment. The Paintwork was graded at A1/S (Serviceable) due to some paint bubbling on the central bonnet section.
Restoration details:
The car was stripped completely down to the chassis for a ground up rebuild.
The chassis was stripped and cleaned, new out riggers welded and treated with mainly dinitrol and extensive wax oil treatment sprayed inside.
The body was next with new front and back wheel arches and the bonnet section rebuilt including original headlight surrounds. New battery box and the drive and brake replacements.
The majority of these parts were sourced from Rimmer Bros, John Kippling and Sports Car Supplies; the majority of receipts are still available.
In the late 90's a change of job caused the project to pause and then in 2008 a house move meant I no longer had a garage and the project was handed over to J &G Classic Car Restoration Services in Dolgellau.
I have complete documentation of the completed work, but essentially J&G completed the restoration. The remaining body work was completed, new door skins and the vehicle resprayed in the original olive green colour. In addition there is a new wiring loom, chrome work, (re) lacquer of the wood dash. New carpet and headlining as well as refurbished seats (Newton Commercials) and seat belts. The engine was sent away for rebuild and conversion to unleaded. There is a recondition diff and stainless steel exhaust as well as spoked wheels. As well as the receipts I have photos of this restoration.
The car was returned and garaged and used a little. The carbs were sent away for a refurb and that resolved a firing issue if hot. The car then stayed garaged and little used until I got a local garage to check it over and service it in 2023 plus replacing the battery. I now just don't use it and with other changes to my lifestyle have decided (reluctantly - it's taken a year) to sell the vehicle.
The only major issue with the vehicle is the central bonnet section which was not replaced and the paintwork has bubbled as seen in the pictures.
